We are raising funds to help buy a van to transport vulnerable children in Tijuana, Mexico that attend a community center we serve. The community center is located in an impoverished neighborhood where children are from broken homes impacted by drugs and violence in unimaginable ways. Many of these children lack shelter, food, and drop out of school to provide for their family. They often lack an imagination for anything better than the lives they’ve seen their parents live.
After God changed the life of a man that grew up in this neighborhood in a profound way, his family started a community center. For seven years, this amazing family has been serving these children every Saturday by providing a safe space, activities, and breakfast and lunch. They are showing these children that there is an alternative to the life they are experiencing, that they are loved, and encouraged and supported to finish school and pursue their dreams.
We have even bigger dreams, to help them purchase a van to safely transport these kids to educational opportunities and sporting activities, so they can dream of the possibilities beyond the drugs and violence that they experience in their neighborhood. They have been transported to activities in the back of a borrowed truck.
