
Joe Brandi
Joe is a pastor with a Master of Divinity degree and has been teaching God’s word and leading small groups for over 25 years. He has a passion for sharing Christ’s love with others who have open and curious hearts. He is passionate about fostering groups that meet consistently together and grow deeper in God’s word.
In 2010, Joe founded Unity 4 Orphans, a nonprofit that helps orphaned and vulnerable children break the cycle of poverty through education, nutrition, counseling, and community. This holistic model has successfully changed the trajectory of children’s lives in Jesus’ name.
When he isn’t teaching others about God’s love or pursuing initiatives to help the children in U4O’s programs, Joe can be found surfing, drinking coffee and exploring other cultures.

Derek Dominguez
Derek has shared God’s love among the marginalized, oppressed, and displaced for over 20 years. This passion has taken him all over the world which included living overseas with his family for a time serving refugees fleeing the Middle East. Derek spends his days leading a non-profit that serves refugee communities and inviting people to find and follow Jesus.
Derek has been married for over 25 years and has two beautiful daughters.
He loves to travel and meet new friends from diverse cultures.
Derek’s formal eduction includes graduate degrees in theology, philosophy, and education.

Nick Ospina
Nick, a native of Colombia, has spent most of his life in San Diego. In 2019, a visit to an orphanage in Tijuana stirred something deep in his heart. What began as a simple trip quickly became a divine appointment—God used that moment to reveal Nick’s purpose: to serve and advocate for vulnerable children. Shortly after, Nick surrendered his life to Christ and was baptized.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, Nick brings not only his language skills but also his cultural understanding to the mission field. His passion for children, combined with his faith and experience, allows him to build meaningful connections and share the love of Jesus across borders.
When he’s not serving with the ministry or helping families find their forever homes, you’ll likely find Nick out in the ocean, surfing the waves of San Diego or Mexico—grateful for the peace and beauty of God’s creation.

Vicki Petkevich
BOARD MEMBER
Vicki Petkevich is dedicated to service and ministry with a particular emphasis on serving women and children. For over three decades, she has been actively involved in Children's Ministry, Bible Studies, and Public Schools. She has served in various roles, most recently as Global Leadership Coordinator for Moms in Prayer International and volunteer at Sea Change in La Jolla. Vicki is devoted to creating a welcoming atmosphere that encourages prayer, building relationships, and facilitating spiritual growth.
Vicki is married to Danny and together they have four amazing adult children. Danny is her biggest fan. He continually leads her on wild adventures all over the world seeking opportunities to impact lives with the love of Jesus, while providing unwavering support and encouragement for all her endeavors.
Mike Wells
Mike Wells is a CPA with over 40 years of experience and leads Wells Financial Consulting in Lakeland, FL. A graduate of the University of Florida, he has served on numerous mission trips around the world and joined Amigos 2 Familia after witnessing the need for the Gospel and education in Latin America. Mike brings deep financial expertise to the board, with past roles including Certified Business Appraiser, Valuation Analyst, and founding bank director. As Treasurer, he supports financial accountability and fundraising while continuing his passion for missions, church service, and community impact.

Bettina Hanna
Born in Brazil and a graduate in Radio and Television, she moved to California in 2009 to study journalism. Since starting her career in 1999, she has worked as a filmmaker and director for major networks including MTV, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Discovery Channel.
She currently serves as the head director for Ex on the Beach (MTV Brazil/Paramount Plus) and recently directed Queens on the Run, a drag queen competition show for Amazon Studios. Her other directing credits include campaigns for Facebook, Bumble Mexico, Red Bull, and the documentary Sissi for FIFA+.
A member of AWD and WIF, she also serves as a juror for international film festivals, recognized for her expertise in entertainment and storytelling.

Alexa Rodriguez

Alexa Rodríguez is an architecture student passionate about organization, creativity, and service. Since 2021, she has supported U.S.-based real estate teams as an Administrative Assistant—managing scheduling, analytics, and client communications. Since 2018, she has also worked as a legal and script translator, bridging language and culture with care.
Alexa thrives in behind-the-scenes roles that bring clarity and connection. She is skilled in tools like Canva, AutoCAD, and Adobe Suite. Drawn to Amigos 2 Familia’s Christ-centered mission, she is honored to help share meaningful stories and strengthen the link between teams and communities.
Alejandro Garcia
Alejandro García is a Telecommunications Technician with field experience and a passion for purpose-driven work. As an FTTX Technician, he developed skills in network deployment, troubleshooting, and user support—gaining a deep appreciation for planning, teamwork, and clear communication.
He enjoys behind-the-scenes roles that keep things running smoothly, from managing logistics to supporting teams with clarity and care. What drew him to Amigos 2 Familia is its Christ-centered mission of love and community. Alejandro is honored to help bridge connections, gather stories, and support the meaningful work happening in Mexico—because for him, it’s more than a job—it’s a calling to serve and uplift others.

Sofía Valenzuela
Administrative Assistant & English Teacher
Sofía Valenzuela is a 20-year-old student at UABC in Tijuana, Baja California, where she is pursuing a degree in Languages with a specialization in Translation.
Her journey with DUNAMIS began several years ago when she joined as a volunteer on mission trips to local orphanages, working alongside Marco, the director of the ministry. Over time, her role expanded, and she now serves as both an English teacher for the children and the administrative assistant between DUNAMIS and A2F.
Sofía has had a heart for missions from a young age. She is actively involved in the missionary group at her church and has long felt God's call to serve. While committed to her education, she knew that when the opportunity to serve through DUNAMIS arose, it was the right time to step in—and she’s been faithfully involved for over four years.
She has a deep love for children and finds great joy in teaching, playing, and growing alongside them. For Sofía, being part of DUNAMIS is more than a role—it’s a calling and a blessing that allows her to serve the Lord through the gifts He has given her.
